In collaboration with Transport Malta, the Students’ Maintenance Grants’ Board is launching a recruitment opportunity for students reading for specific degrees at the University of Malta and at MCAST (see below)


a. Students following first degrees in the Faculty of Built Environment;

b. First and Second-Year students of all Masters courses offered by the Faculty of Built Environment;

c. Final year students in Transport Geography;

d. Students from the Faculty of Engineering with Naval Architecture as one of the credits;

e. Students reading Communications Degrees from the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences and the University of Malta and MCAST;

f. Students from the Faculty of Laws with an interest in the Aviation and Maritime fields;

g. Students following Accountancy degrees from the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy;

h. Students following degrees in Public Policy from the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.


Selected students will be assigned to different entities which are under the remit of Transport Malta during Summer 2018.   They will join different teams assigned to specific projects currently being undertaken by Transport Malta.  Students with the required organisational skills and good performance will be identified.  This may eventually lead to a career possibility with Transport Malta once the student has graduated.


Online Application

The Students’ Maintenance Grants’ Board welcomes online applications from students who are reading for courses listed in the relative info page.   They may be requested to attend training and briefing sessions before actually performing the actual duties of their work placement.  Transport Malta may enter an agreement with chosen applicants varying placement periods and terms.

The Transport Malta Summer Work Placement period runs from 2nd July till 28th September 2018.  Students may be requested to work between 20 and 40 hours weekly basis during the summer months, depending on the demand of the entity to which they have been assigned.


Final-year students only are being offered the option of an extension of their workphase for a further 3 months, that is from 1st October 2018 till 31st December 2018.
