Oliver Library Management System

In 2005 the computerization of school libraries commenced with a pilot project in six sites.   To date the number of sites has risen to 27 and these include state and non-state primary and secondary schools and two Departments.

Oliver LMS is designed to record and control resources in both primary and secondary schools.  It is equipped with an easy to use search and display facility for students and staff.  Search results are clearly providers; faceted searches or picture based icons, to assist primary school students.

Book cover images bring to life each bibliographic record.

The interactive feature of Oliver Library Management System (Oliver LMS) means that via the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) students can manage and customize their own library profile, add book reviews, reserve, renew items, view their loan information, email library staff, save, email and print the search results, set up alerts for specific interests.  The system will then notify students by e-mail of any new material related to their interest that has been added to the central database.  Library Staff will be able to compile reading lists to assist students in their projects.  Useful websites can be added and accessed directly through Oliver LMS.

Olly is another OPAC interface specially designed for primary school students and students with mixed abilities. With animated images, fun logos and exciting search techniques, Olly feeds the unfettered thirst for knowledge and exploration unique to youngsters.

A fully-customisable "Library Home Page" is also available.  Library Staff can create and update the information without needing any technical knowledge, allowing them to promote new resources, curriculum materials, services or school events to ensure the library is a living, breathing part of the school.  Images and links can be added to any item.
