Permanent Secretary

Christopher Bezzina was appointed Permanent Secretary on the 24th February 2009 after serving as a Director for Quality Assurance within the Quality Assurance Department, Directorate for Quality and standards in Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth & Sport. He is also a member of the Faculty of Education, University of Malta. Christopher is course leader of the Masters programme in Educational Leadership. He has taught and done consultancy work both locally and abroad in the areas of teacher education and the professional development of teachers and educational leaders in countries such as Cyprus, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, the Seychelles and the United States. In 2004 he was a Fulbright Scholar at the State University of New York at Buffalo where he conducted research in schools as learning communities. He is a visiting professor at the University of Bologna and the State University of New York.

He has published extensively in the areas of teacher professional development and school leadership. He is also involved in a number of European bodies, various international educational institutions, and serves on a number of editorial boards.
